In honor of those who served, NPRC in collaboration with the Department of Defense Reserve Forces Policy Board, The Hispanic War Veteran's of America, Freddie Mac, and the Mortgage Bankers Association have launched the "Welcome Home" program to provide bilingual speaking military servicemembers with free internet based training in the mortgage financing industry.

~ NEW: In a meeting with Hispanic Leaders about Judge Sonia Sotomayor, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid wore the official NPRC "Sonia" button.

~ NPRC supports the nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to be the first Latina Supreme Court Justice.
In a letter dated March 24th 2009, NPRC President and CEO Rafael A. Fantauzzi, had asked New York Senator Charles Schumer to support Judge Sotomayor. "Judge Sotomayor is a highly qualified candidate for the current vacancy on the Supreme Court. Her ethnicity is an added value to the diversity in America, Diversity of Thought." 
 

~ NEW: President Obama Announces $39 Million in Medicaid Relief from ARRA for Puerto Rico
President Barack Obama announced in a meeting with the Nation’s Governors that states will be able to access the first two quarters of Federal Medical Assistance Percentage funding (FMAP) – the federal match for Medicaid – starting this Wednesday, February 25. FMAP funding helps pay for health care for the families hit hard by the economic crisis and some of the nation’s most vulnerable citizens. More than 49 million Americans rely on Medicaid for health care coverage and this funding could help 20 million more Americans get covered. Press Release

~ NPRC hosts meeting of Latino leaders to outline Latino healthcare inequities that must be addressed in 2009
Latino leaders representing organizations across the country convened on December 12 in Washington, D.C. to launch the Latino Agenda for Healthcare Reform. The new coalition plans to ensure that healthcare equity for Latinos is addressed in any new reform measures proposed by the next President and Congress. Press Release
